What is Dualspace?

  • Dualspace is an online marketplace that connects Buyers (people or companies looking to book properties for photo or video shoots) with Hosts who list their homes, studios, or other locations for rental. We facilitate bookings, payments, and communication through our platform.

How do I create an account?

  • To create an account, navigate to the main Dualspace page and click "Sign up". From there, select your user type--customer or property owner. If you're a property owner, you will be able to add a listing once you've created an account. If you're a customer, you must create an account and connect a payment to that account before booking a property.

How do I update my property availability?

  • To change the availability of your listing, navigate to your account by selecting the circle in the upper right corner of the landing page. Select "Your listings", then "Manage Availability" below the listing that you'd like to edit. From here, you can either select "Edit default schedule" to update all availability, or "Add an availability exception" at the bottom of the page to input specific exceptions to your general availability (I.e. going out of town, holidays, etc.).

Who owns the content I post?

  • You retain ownership of any content you post, such as messages, reviews, or feedback. By posting content, you grant Dualspace a license to use it to operate and improve the Service.

How does Dualspace handle bookings?

  • Dualspace acts as a facilitator between Buyers and Hosts. We are not a party to your booking agreement. Buyers can book properties for specific dates, and payments are processed through our platform. Hosts may update availability or pricing at any time before confirming a booking.

Is pricing negotiable?

  • Because most of the properties on Dualspace are real homes, we respect the hourly rates that property owners decide on. Prices are not negotiable and we do not offer day rates.

When is the payout for a shoot sent to my account?

  • We use Stripe to process payments and payouts on our platform. The payout is triggered 2 days after the end of the booking period (i.e., if the booking ends on Monday, the payout is triggered on Wednesday). After a payout is triggered, Stripe will begin the process of transferring the funds to the your bank account, which is connected to your payout settings on the marketplace. It can take Stripe anywhere between 5 to 10 business days to transfer the money to the provider's bank account. Moreover, there may be additional days of standard bank processing time before the balance appears in the provider's bank account statement. If you feel that a payout is taking longer than normal, feel free to contact us here and we will be happy to investigate further.

What are the payment and fees policies?

  • All payments are processed electronically through Dualspace using Stripe and must be authorized by your payment provider. Service fees apply to all bookings as displayed during checkout. The service fee for the customer for each booking is 10% of the total booking cost. Payments are made to property owners electronically through Dualspace using Stripe to the financial institution listed on your account. Payouts cannot be made without a payout account connected to your Dualspace account. Dualspace takes a service fee of 18% from each booking total paid to property owners. This will be displayed clearly before the owner accepts a booking.

Does Dualspace collect a cleaning fee on bookings?

  • Dualspace does not collect a cleaning fee on bookings. Property owners should take that into account when selecting a rate for their listings.

Can I communicate with a property owner to ask questions before booking?

  • Yes, if a customer has questions before booking, they can contact a property owner by scrolling to the bottom of the property listing page and clicking "contact" under "About the listing author". From here, a message can be sent to the property owner.

Can I cancel a booking?

  • Yes. To cancel an already accepted booking, email us here. See below for our refund policy.

What is the refund policy if a booking is cancelled?

  • Buyers: At least 48 hours notice prior to the shoot start time is needed to allow for a cancellation and refund. A full refund is given (including fees) if the shoot is cancelled in that time frame. No-shows do not receive a refund.
  • Hosts: If a Host cancels, the Buyer receives a full refund, including service fees. We ask that hosts only cancel shoots in extenuating circumstances and provide as much notice as possible to the Buyer.

Am I able to book a scout visit?

  • Customers can book scout visits by contacting the owner through the "contact" link at the bottom of a listing page. It is up to the discretion of the property owner to allow for scout visits or not. Additionally, homeowners may require a formal booking for a scout visit at their hourly rate. Please respect each individual property owner's policy on scout visits.

Can I communicate directly with a Host outside of the Dualspace marketplace?

  • All booking-related communication must occur through Dualspace. Direct communication is allowed only to coordinate confirmed bookings. Attempting to bypass the platform may result in warnings or account suspension.

Who is responsible for property damage?

  • Buyers are responsible for any damage caused by themselves, their crew, contractors, equipment, or guests. Professional productions must provide a valid Certificate of Insurance (COI) naming the Host as additional insured.

Who owns the media produced on a property?

  • All photos and videos produced during a booking belong exclusively to the Buyer. Hosts do not have ownership rights unless explicitly agreed in writing.

Does Dualspace guarantee the accuracy of property listings?

  • We and Hosts strive to keep listings accurate, but prices, availability, and property details may change without notice. Buyers should verify details with the Host prior to booking.
